Life for Relief and Development is a non-government organization in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of
the United Nations. Life was founded in 1993 by concerned Canadian and American Muslim professionals in response to the
humanitarian crisis that had developed in Iraq as a result of the Gulf War conflict and the ensuing sanctions. Today, Life for Relief
and Development is dedicated to not only alleviating human suffering in Iraq but also around the world regardless of race, color,
religion or cultural background. Our global organization strives to offer a variety of humanitarian, health, and educational services
and programs to refugees and victims of natural disasters, wars, hunger, poverty and injustice.
Since its inception, Life (Canada) has offered global services and assistance to hundreds of thousands of needy individuals. We
endow millions of dollars worth of much needed medicines, food, computers, schools and training annually to those in areas
deprived of a socio-economic infrastructure. We generate and sustain that infrastructure. Moreover, our charity builds and
maintains water treatment plants so that pure and nourishing waters can be supplied while providing a sanitary environment
necessary for healthy human existence. Life is involved in refurbishing and renovating many schools and rehabilitation centers all
around the world.
Our goal, in any country that our services are presently engaged, is to sponsor long-term and sustainable human development
programs in order to provide a lasting and holistic cure and not a temporary remedy for the destitute and displaced.
Here at Life for Relief and Development (Canada) we weave our efforts around the central thread ethic of ""Working for life to save
lives"". Despite the fact that our humanitarian efforts deal with a grim reality, by subscribing to this mantra we maintain a clear and
positive focus. We pray that our efforts may be accepted.
